Our Commitment to the Environment

We are aware that we live in a world of limited natural resources, and particularly because we live in a High Desert Climate, we have strived to save water wherever we can, and use the gift of the sun. We respect the environment and work hard to support the natural and organic cycles of life. We try to avoid harmful chemicals and excess waste of non-replenishable materials.

Whenever we have a choice of how we do business, we choose the way that uses the least amount of non-renewable resources. To that end, we:

  • Have an energy efficient building, which utilizes passive solar strategies.
  • Recycle whatever we can.
  • Compost all organic materials and use this to replenish our garden soil.
  • Use solar exterior lighting.
  • Dry laundry on a clothesline instead of a dryer.
  • Use cloth napkins and dishware that can be cleaned and reused.
  • Use the most energy efficient water delivery systems to outdoor plants and gardens, which feature drought tolerant, native plants, and plan to use gray water for irrigation in the near future.
  • As appliances need to be replaced, we purchase those with high-energy efficiency ratings.

We encourage our guests to explore and enjoy the natural desert experience, and are happy to provide information about energy efficient living in a desert environment. We applaud people who share our philosophy of respect for the environment, and welcome travelers who are interested in living as green as possible.

Check-In is between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm.  Please call ahead for availability of earlier or later check-in times.  Because there is not a front desk like there is in a hotel, and the innkeepers are up early to prepare breakfast, we ask that you try to adhere to the established check in times as much as possible.

Check-Out is 11:00 am.  Arrangements must be made for later check-out times.  Guests staying longer than 30 minutes past the established check out time will be charged a late fee of $25 for each 30 minutes past check out time.

Children 6 years and older are welcome.  The $10.00 charge per extra person also applies to each child.  Our facility is just not set up for toddlers and younger children.  There are many prickly cacti, and some desert critters in the gardens that can certainly be hazardous to unsuspecting little ones.

All rooms and areas within the building are non-smoking areas.  Smoking is permitted in all outdoor areas.  An extra cleaning fee of $375.00 will be charged for smoking in any of the rooms or interior areas of the house.

There is no cancellation charge for cancellations made more than 30 days before the check-in date.

Cancellations made between 10 and 30 days before the check in date will be charged $15.00.

Cancellations made 10 days or less before the check in date will be the full amount of the reservation.  A gift certificate, good for 120 days, will be given for the full amount of the reservation of the cancelled reservation.  Use of the gift certificate is subject to availability.  We will make every effort to rent the room for the timeframe of your cancelled reservation to avoid cancellation fees.

Well mannered pets are allowed with prior permission in the Oso and Tortugas rooms.

Pets are not to be left unattended in the room or on the rom's private patio.  Pets are to be kept on a leash at all times.  Owners are expected to pick up after their pets have gone to the bathroom and plastic bags will be provided on request.  Pet owners are responsible for damage caused by pets and extra fees may be assessed for cleaning or if needed, for replacement of furnishings.  Pets are not permitted on the beds or furniture because of the sensitivity of other travellers to pet dander and hair.

Items left at the B&B

If you leave personal items (cell phone chargers, clothes, etc.) please contact us and we will gladly return them to you.  There will be a service charge of $25.00 plus the cost of postage.  This is due to our rural location and needing to make a special trip to the post office.

My brother and I stayed at the Casa de Suenos last weekend for 4 nights. Marlene and George are wonderful hosts. The B&B was very clean, relaxing, had great patio areas, and wonderful views of the mountains. It was very easy to go for a walk right out back or down the road into the desert. And Peanut (their dog) was a great companion on the walks and greeted us most graciously every morning for breakfast. Marlene provided great conversation and knowledge of the area. We absolutely recommend this B&B if staying near the El Paso area. It was very easy to access El Paso, Las Cruces, and the major highways, but yet far enough away from it all to provide a serene, relaxing place to hang out. We played horseshoes in the back, and darts in the common area. The breakfasts Marlene cooked for us were perfect. Fresh fruit was awesome!! Loved it!!!

Decided to stay here, didnt want to stay in a hotel. George and Marlene are great host, and Peanut is just as nice. Great breakfast everyday, and coffee waiting outside our door every morning, nice touch. The room we had was very nice, clean and very spacious, felt like we were at home. Marlene gave us great tips on where to go for dinner and what winneries were haveing wine tastings. We stayed over for Valentines, went out for a nice tasting, came back and there was a gift of chocolates and a rose, very nice. We will be going back. Thank you Geroge and Marlene.

I had the pleasure of staying at Casa de Suenos during a trip to New Mexico in November. It was amazing. The owner was so sweet and such a pleasure to converse with. She really made us feel like we were at home. I stayed for two nights, and had a very nice breakfast both mornings. I also really liked that she put out a thermos of coffee by my room so I could have coffee as soon as I got out of bed in the morning.

I live in Atlanta, so for me it was a real treat to go out to New Mexico and see the beautiful scenery. Following my first night at Casa de Suenos, we woke up early in the morning to see the sunrise. It was fantastic! And of course, the owner made us hot coffee to keep us warm.

The room was really clean and had a lot of nice touches. I slept very well.…

well all i can say is wow on arrival I found it hard to find so did the taxi driver but it was well worth it if i was ever coming back which i would if i was ever in el paso i would hire a car not a taxi but this b&b is away from everthing which could be classed as a double edged sword if you like being in the sticks it is great but if you like the town centre its not so good but you must hire a car the rooms are authentic mexican design with a large open space at the rear if you like walking in the desert

We were traveling to El Paso for the Sun Bowl and all of the travel sites kept directing me to the well known hotel chains but I was hoping for something with the southwest flair so I kept digging and was greatly rewarded. This place LOOKS like it belongs on a Mesa in the desert, which it does. My husband was concerned that B&Bs are not very private or quiet and we later laughed with the other couple staying there that it is so quiet it is like being in a sensory depravation chamber. The rooms are styled with good attention to detail and are roomier than the pictures on the website. In fact, we took some pictures to try and copy some features at our home but I just know they aren't going to turn out as good as what Marlene and her husband did. Good beds, ours had great powder room with separate bathroom. The private patio is adorable, but the…
