Native Garden and Medicine Wheel

crw_20269_sCome enjoy our native desert plant garden and Medicine Wheel. If you need a break from the hubbub of everyday life, our back garden area may provide the quiet sanctuary that you are looking for. The B&B sits on 3 acres overlooking the Rio Grande River Valley. There is a native cactus garden with benches dotted throughout the back yard, affording people the opportunity to get away from phones, computers etc, and listen to the natural sounds of the desert.

crw_20294_sNestled amongst the Creosote bushes is a Medicine Wheel based upon ancient native principals. Guests are invited to use the Medicine Wheel for meditation and healing or just plain quiet time. If interested, guests can request individual or group teachings on the power of the Medicine Wheel and learn the processes used by ancient people around the world.
crw_20306_sNative desert wildlife and birds fill the area in the back yard. Birds sighted from the patio are: Roadrunners; 3 types of Doves; Gamble Quail; Several varieties of Hummingbirds; Western Orioles; Finches; Nighthawks; Ravens; Threshers and many others that pass through on their migrational patterns. A variety of butterflies flitter through the gardens from February through November.

Although we are not far from city life, we provide a true desert experience, with wonderful sunrises and sunsets, and a variety of calming and peaceful environmental experiences.

POLICES

CHECK IN

Check-In is between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm.  Please call ahead for availability of earlier or later check-in times.  Because there is not a front desk like there is in a hotel, and the innkeepers are up early to prepare breakfast, we ask that you try to adhere to the established check in times as much as possible.

CHECK OUT

Check-Out is 11:00 am.  Arrangements must be made for later check-out times.  Guests staying longer than 30 minutes past the established check out time will be charged a late fee of $25 for each 30 minutes past check out time.

CHILDREN

Children 6 years and older are welcome.  The $10.00 charge per extra person also applies to each child.  Our facility is just not set up for toddlers and younger children.  There are many prickly cacti, and some desert critters in the gardens that can certainly be hazardous to unsuspecting little ones.

SMOKING

All rooms and areas within the building are non-smoking areas.  Smoking is permitted in all outdoor areas.  An extra cleaning fee of $375.00 will be charged for smoking in any of the rooms or interior areas of the house.

CANCELLATION CHARGES

There is no cancellation charge for cancellations made more than 30 days before the check-in date.

Cancellations made between 10 and 30 days before the check in date will be charged $15.00.

Cancellations made 10 days or less before the check in date will be the full amount of the reservation.  A gift certificate, good for 120 days, will be given for the full amount of the reservation of the cancelled reservation.  Use of the gift certificate is subject to availability.  We will make every effort to rent the room for the timeframe of your cancelled reservation to avoid cancellation fees.

PETS

Well mannered pets are allowed with prior permission in the Oso and Tortugas rooms.

Pets are not to be left unattended in the room or on the rom's private patio.  Pets are to be kept on a leash at all times.  Owners are expected to pick up after their pets have gone to the bathroom and plastic bags will be provided on request.  Pet owners are responsible for damage caused by pets and extra fees may be assessed for cleaning or if needed, for replacement of furnishings.  Pets are not permitted on the beds or furniture because of the sensitivity of other travellers to pet dander and hair.

Items left at the B&B

If you leave personal items (cell phone chargers, clothes, etc.) please contact us and we will gladly return them to you.  There will be a service charge of $25.00 plus the cost of postage.  This is due to our rural location and needing to make a special trip to the post office.

We have been on a road trip for a week and this stop has been the more authentic one. Charm is everywhere in this place, excellent sleep and breakfast and the hostess is a gem. Best mexican food experience ever in the low key dinner nearby. Felt like we were locals.

We spent the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in the El Paso area, this a very nice outside of the el paso area. The place is like a touch of Santa Fe style. The view from the back patio if fantastic, especially at nite. YOu can see the lights of the city down the mesa, its like Christmas lights. The place has a gas BBQ grill, so on one nite we had a romantic BBQ on the patio, lite music, wine, lots of start seen very well being away from the city. The rooms were very nice. The breakfast was yummy and feeling. No not just toast and bagels, but full breakfast, eggs, fruit, coffee..!! We could very easily stay there all season.. The Inn was like a hacienda, nice little areas here and there around the property, and a very nice place to walk out in the back yard area. it was like a desert garden, even had a life size medicine wheel, to see and…

Everything about this stay was fantastic! The rooms were clean, comfortable and just so well done. If you want an authentic southwestern experience you are going to get it! The views were great. We had a little private patio and in the morning when we got up there was a crock of fresh hot coffee outside our room. Super comfortable bed! We went over to the great dining room when we got up and it was an inspired menu, crisp perfect bacon and a massive omlette stuffed with cheese and fresh green chilis, a wonderful fruit plate with yogurt and homemade granola on the side. Marlene treated us like family! I was happy to find this place and my husband and I will be back on a regular basis!

Step away from the ordinary. Adobe hacienda in the peace and quiet of the desert..tinkling fountain in the courtyard, clean colorful southwestern decor, expansive patio with wonderful view-day and night- of El Paso at the base of the Franklin Mountains--all can be yours! Add the charm and friendliness of Marlene and her delicious home cooked breakfasts and you are in a great place. Add comfy beds, tv, wifi.

My friends and I enjoyed it so much last September that we came back this September, and it was just as welcoming and delightful.
